Product & systems / Draft outline

When infrastructure becomes the user’s problem

A working note on integrations, invisible complexity, and where a product’s responsibility ends.

A working outline drafted from project context, ready for my own edits.

A technically working connection can still ask too much of the person using it. If getting started means understanding webhooks, copying identifiers, and configuring another tool, setup has become part of the product experience.

The CloseCalls integration discussion is the starting point for this essay: which parts should a customer control, and which parts should the product quietly handle?

To develop: compare the setup paths, explain the tradeoffs, and add the decisions and constraints from the actual implementation.
